GLNG Upstream Project, Roma, QLD (2009-2016)
Development of the upstream coal seam gas fields to provide feedstock for the GLNG Project- comprising drilling and connection of approximately 370 wells and development of gas and associated water processing facilities in the Surat Basin region of south-west Queensland.
Contract and Commercial Management
Led a multidisciplinary team: Led the project contracting and execution strategy development, and built and led a team of commercial professionals to execute all aspects of project contracting and procurement. Oversaw project estimate compilation and supported project investment due diligence processes.
Developed optimised strategies: Created and implemented project-wide contract, procurement, and risk management strategies. Negotiated complex multi-site project development contracts invoking innovative risk-reward sharing models to align contractors to project value drivers.
Cost-out: Participated in focus group to assess global best commercial and contracting practice in unconventional oil and gas-field development and implemented program to ‘operationalise’ ongoing drill-and-connect and field development activities, driving significant improvement in capital efficiency.
Organisational Change Management - Transformation: Led commercial elements of organizational transformation in shift from major project delivery to ongoing capital development activities. Examples included shift from asset to discipline led teams, operationalization of field development activities, and development and implementation of contracts matched to the transformed organization – with shared risk and reward measures aligning contractors’ reward with business value drivers.
Outcomes Delivered: Commercial value and greatly increased capital efficiency realized from a multi-disciplinary team driving significant cost out and transformation of delivery model, operating model and commercial model for ongoing CSG field development.
